Murray is a unique dog. He was from Puerto Rico, and he suffered from the disease distemper. He was left on the shores of what is known as Dead Dog Beach. It is a place where unwanted animals are left to die.

His experiences made him the way he is — peculiar. The disease that he caught is often deadly. Animals who suffer from distemper usually have a minimal chance of making it alive since it degrades the respiratory and nervous systems of the body. But, Murray is a survivor.

The disease made him look different from other dogs. He lost all his teeth, so he can’t keep his tongue inside his mouth. His head is also left disfigured.

His appearance may not fit the mold but Murray is special on his own. He kept his positive disposition in life. He is sweet, loving, and zealous. He was saved by The Sato Project and was brought to the US for adoption.

However, there was a sharp turn of events as a doctor decided to put him to sleep because of his condition instead of setting him up for adoption. But, Murray is a survivor through and through. He made the doctor change his mind.

The doctor canceled the lethal injection because Murray started wagging his tail at him. He was given another chance at life and that’s when he finally met the Gallant family.

The Gallants fell in love with him instantly. McKenzie Gallant shared that they found his signature tongue-out look the cutest. Also, instead of getting turned off by his crooked features, they saw it as something special.

Murray went home with the Gallants as a foster, but they eventually realized that they can’t part with the dog. They made an Instagram for him to help raise awareness on The Sato project and to help more rescue dogs.
