Sadie is a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon who nearly died when she fell in an icy pond. This two-and-a-half-year-old pup wandered around the ice and got trapped in a pond after falling.
Luckily, a UPS delivery truck passed along the area. The driver named Ryan Eras makes sure that the parcels deliver on time to their customers. For a moment while driving, something caught his attention, a desperate call for help.
He stopped to check out the alarming noise that he heard. The man was surprised when he saw Sadie struggling for survival. The dog was 10 to 15 feet away from the nearest shore; she cannot get out of the freezing water on her own.
Ryan, without second thoughts, ran to the pond to rescue Sadie. Thank goodness he got some help from a man named Mark, a retired veterinarian. Using Mark’s rowboat, he worked with all his might to save the stranded pup.
It was a difficult rescue because the rowboat cannot get any nearer to Sadie. Ryan had to strip to his boxers and swim in the icy waters, so he could fetch her by the collar and bring her ashore. Take note; the pond has a depth of 16-feet.
Mark attended to Sadie immediately, kept her warm and checked her condition. If the rescue had gone a little later, the dog would have suffered a heart attack and died a few moments later. After making sure that she is all right, Ryan went on with his remaining deliveries for the day.
The dog was given back to his owner after she surrendered to the animal rescuers.
The very next day, Ryan met Sadie again by chance. This time, their get together happened when he made a delivery on her owner’s residence. Ryan said that the dog might have remembered him as she just ran to him when she saw him,
Indeed, even in the brink of death, Sadie did recognize her hero after all.
