A man’s world can sometimes be hilariously superficial. It’s always a competition of who has the biggest house, the nicest cars, the hottest wife, and the manliest dogs. This is the sad reality for these men who consider themselves as “top dogs” or “alpha males.” But it isn’t always the case for all men in the world.

For our bodybuilder in this story, it definitely is the case all his adult life. Meet Bobby Humphreys. He is a bodybuilder and who falls into that stereotype who wants everything that is fast, big, and strong. This doesn’t exclude his preference with dogs. He likes them big, strong, and manly.

He and his wife had three rottweilers in their household. Rottweilers have this strong, imposing look on them that says “I’m the boss, hooman.” In fact, he loves big, strong dogs so much that he makes fun of his friends whenever they or their girlfriends have cute and small toy dogs.

But this mentality would change forever as Bobby’s life took on a couple of dramatic turns. Bobby’s wife of 17 years left him. On top of that, he severely injured his shoulder that required surgery. He was not able to work and was not able to go to the gym.

Months later, his shoulder healed, but his heart didn’t. He started abusing alcohol as he continued to sink into deep depression. Thanks to good friends who never left him, he stayed sane. One of them is Connie Rogers. Connie asked Bobby for a favor one day that changed his life forever – to watch over her pet chihuahua, Lady. This feisty pup was notoriously aggressive with other people.

Remember, Bobby wasn’t into tiny dogs, but she owed Connie, so he agreed. Hours later, Bobby and Lady hit it off, and they cuddled for hours. It opened a whole new world of unconditional love for Bobby so much that he adopted his own chihuahuas. He realized that these tiny pups were all that he needed to get his life back.
