German Shepherd dogs are usually feared because of their intimidating looks and aggressive tendencies. Dog owners, however, know that behind the terrifying exterior is a smart mind and a gentle, loyal heart. They have a natural instinct to be protective and are not opposed to frequent cuddles.

Shadow proves this fact with a video uploaded by her family. What makes it quite interesting is that Shadow is seen snuggling not with her puppies or her “hoomans,” but with a pygmy goat! Pygmy goat is the most common goat breed kept as pets because of its miniature size and ability to adapt to most climates. And in this video, it sure looks like it isn’t only adaptable, but it is also adoptable.

Shadow’s motherly instinct has no boundaries. And the adorable baby goat is more than happy to receive all the love and the licks from her new mommy. Licking is a mother dog’s way of showing affection for her puppies. It is also a way for the mother to mark them with her scent and claim them as her own. Shadow tends to lick the little goat a lot during their snuggles and has truly claimed the goat as her own baby, much to their family’s delight.

Sine they first met, the two have been inseparable, and the little goat continues to grow under Shadow’s loving care and protection. The family cannot contain their wonder at the compassionate and loving spirit of Shadow and at the unusual but amazing bond between their pets.

This is not the first interspecies friendship. Still, the motherly love of Shadow to the cute little goat is a testament of how beautiful and reassuring is our ability to show love and affection to everyone. You can watch Shadow snuggling with the pygmy goat in the video below:
