On September 26th, 2018, New York Bully Crew received a call about a death row dog in Philadelphia. Rescuers immediately responded to the call and rushed Lawrence to the University of Pennsylvania, where he received emergency care.

The vets worked hard to keep Lawrence stable. But he was in the worst condition that they didn’t immediately know what was wrong with him, except for that he only weighed 24 pounds.

Lawrence was emaciated that he didn’t have muscle mass on his skull. He also had a bloody stool and was suffering from pressure sores on the hips. His condition was cachectic, and Lawrence was slowly wasting away.

Vets suspected that Lawrence had parvovirus, but tests came back negative. Further examinations revealed that he was severely dehydrated, anemic, and starving.

But while his physical condition wasn’t so good, Lawrence remained to be a happy pup. He pulled through and was soon transferred to the care of his foster mom, Lily.

“I saw a picture of this skeleton, and I was like, ’What is this?’” Lily said. “He’s ready for a foster home, and he’s calling me. So I brought him home.”

Lily diligently administered Lawrence’s injections and pills. She also fed him every three hours. A few months later, Lawrence regained his strength. He added some weight, too.

Lily knew Lawrence belonged to someone in the past. He was completely housebroken. He knows what a bed or a couch is. And he knows how to sit.

How Lawrence ended up in such a bad state remains a mystery. But what’s more important is that he pulled through, and he is now healthy and ready to find his forever family.

Lawrence bonds fiercely with the person he’s with. And while Lily loves him so much, she knows she has to let him go. “There’s somebody out there for him. And they’re gonna end up with the best dog ever.”
